What Happened?

On the 4th August 2020 two explosions erupted in the port of Beirut, Lebanon. These massive explosions destroyed homes, businesses, full city blocks and injured thousands of people.

As reported on Thursday 6th August 2020, over 300,000 people are now homeless, 5,000 have been injured and 135 people have died. It is expected that these numbers will increase as more people are being reported missing and infrastructures continue to collapse.

This event has not only caused massive wreckage and loss of life but will have severe consequences for the livelihood of the entire country. The destruction of the port will have an impact on importation of food, medical supplies and access to basic necessities. Lebanon is in a state of emergency.
