Take A Breathe

Whether you are a seasoned meditator, or have dabbled with a couple of mindfulness exercises, we can agree that allocating time for stillness, regulated *slow* breathing (with or without mantra*) makes us, at the very least, feel calm and rested... and at the very best, feel elevated and rejuvenated.

I came across a fascinating scientific study shared by The Health and Human Performance Foundation whereby the results demonstrate the positive effects of mantra on our bodies by stabilising respiratory rates. The research concludes that:

"Rhythm formulas that involve breathing at six breaths per minute induce favourable psychological and possibly physiological effects"

If you haven't given meditation and mantra recitation a try, may I recommend trying The Guru Ram Das Mantra. It is one of the closest practice to my heart. You can experiment reciting it whilst listening to Sat Avtar's enchanting and healing voice.

Till next time, have a soothing Venus Day.
